Like the lotus rooted in muddy water, we long to break free above the surface and bloom.
Your life is far from perfect and your past leaves you feeling ashamed, doubtful, and worn down.
Like the lotus, your roots are messy, muddy and tangled. It feels as though your roots (family members, childhood trauma, unhealthy relationships) are constantly dragging you down and you struggle to come up for air. You struggle to survive.
You have considered counseling before but doubt and cynicism hold you back. Part of you wants someone who will understand, someone who will accept you, someone who will care. Another part of you thinks that’s not possible, it will be too difficult, and you’ll set yourself up for another disappointment.
This is why counseling with me always starts exactly where you are comfortable. Yes, we will pull at the tangled roots and move through the mud, but we will do it together and we will do it at your pace. You’ll receive guidance, validation, and practical tools you can use in everyday life. And with EMDR therapy, we can work through traumatic experiences without the need for retelling your story over and again (which often feels traumatic in itself).
I would be honored to support you in moving through suffering and into strength, tranquility and enlightenment.

Sometimes if a client is feeling stuck or unmotivated, we agree to create some accountability to do something before next session but it isn’t meant to be punitive or shaming.
-
The goals come directly from the client when we meet for the intake and I review those as we have sessions to make sure there are no major changes along the way.
